Softball Completes Win at Huntington
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Taylor traveled back to Huntington on Thursday to resume the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader and came home with an important league victory.
The action picked up with the Trojans holding a 3-0 lead in the second and the score did not change until the hosts (22-18, 14-14 CL) got a single run in the fifth.
Taylor wasted no time countering, rallying for two runs in the top of the sixth and adding an insurance tally in the seventh to complete the 6-3 victory.
Madisyn Standridge ignited the rally in the sixth with a one-out double and scored one batter later on a triple off the bat of Ava Everman. Delaney Barton then brought in Everman with a sacrifice fly.
Standridge had the big game at the plate for Taylor, finishing with a home run, a double, two runs scored and a trio of runs batted in.
Claire Cullen took care of the rest from the circle, finishing off a complete game with one earned run in her seven innings of work and eight strikeouts.
Taylor (20-20, 15-13 CL) will look to carry the momentum into play on Friday, when it plays at Grace (12-30, 6-22 CL) in a 3:00 pm start.
