Noah Honored as Crossroads League Pitcher-of-the-Week
JACKSON, Mich. – After an incredible display in the Crossroads League Tournament, Mackenzie Noah has been named the CL Pitcher-of-the-Week in the weekly awards announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is the first for Noah in her collegiate career and the first for the Trojan softball team this season.
The sensational sophomore put on a clinic inside the circle for the Trojans on the way to the Championship game. Noah earned four victories throughout the week, all in elimination games for Taylor.
The Allen Park, Michigan native fired three complete games while earning her fourth victory after coming in relief against No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan in a tie ballgame. Noah allowed six runs and four earned tallies through 23-and-two-thirds innings inside the circle. In her final two appearances against IWU and No. 25 Mount Vernon Nazarene, Noah allowed a single unearned run, six hits, and two walks while striking out seven batters.
Noah began the week defeating Goshen in a play-in game, in which she struck out six batters for a new career-best. After Taylor lost in the first round, Noah was on the spot again to deliver another complete game victory, this time against Spring Arbor.
Noah's amazing performance was a catalyst for Taylor to reach the CL Championship game, which gave Taylor the league's second automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
The award for Noah was the 47th athlete-of-the-week honor that TU Athletics has collected during the 2022-2023 year.
Noah and the Trojans await to see where they will begin play and against whom during the NAIA Selection Show on Tuesday, May 9, at 5:00 pm, which can be seen on the NAIA YouTube channel. No matter the destination or opponent Taylor's first game in the NAIA Tournament will be on Monday, May 15.
