Trojans Finish Second at Home Invitational
MARION, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team improved upon its first round score in the final round of its home invitational but the Trojans were unable to hold off a charge of Saint Francis as TU claimed second place in the event.
Sophomore Brittany Pfaff led the Trojans with a round of 85 while freshman Grace Elenbaas added an 86 and sophomore Libby Hansen finished with an 88 as TU counted three scores in the 80's. Senior Lauren Anderson fired a career-low round of 93 to round out the counting scores for Taylor while freshman Courtney Feagans was TU's drop score with a 97.
The Trojans entered the final round clinging to a one-shot lead over Saint Francis but the Cougars turned in an impressive final round score of 327 to pass up the Trojans and claim the team title. The Cougars got a final round 77 by Hannah Gore while USF's Nikki Lalonde followed up yesterday's tournament-leading score of 85 with an 80 today to claim individual medalist honors.
Pfaff was the top finisher for TU with a two-day total of 173 (88-85) to claim fourth place while Hansen finished one spot behind with a total of 177 (89-88).
The Trojans will be back in action next weekend at the Battle at Blackthorn hosted by Bethel College at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
