INDIANAPOLIS – Trey Turner has been named the Crossroads League Golfer of the Week following his dominant victory at the Crossroads League Championship last week.
Turner turned in one of the most impressive individual Crossroads League championship performances in recent memory last week as the sophomore posted three straight under-par rounds en route to a three shot victory.
The sophomore from Bedford, Indiana posted rounds of 70 and 69 in the first two rounds of the championship before closing with a final round 71 for a three round total of 6-under-par. Turner was one of only two players to finish under par for the event with Grace's Jon Schram finishing three shots behind Turner at three under.
Turner set records along the way during the championship, posting the best 36 hole and 54 hole totals in Taylor golf history and his performance propelled the 21st ranked Trojans to their first Crossroads League title since 1998.
The tournament victory was Turner's third of the spring season and second straight after he also claimed the Huntington Invitational title on April 23rd along with the Battle on Beale Street on March 15th. This is Turner's third Crossroads League Golfer of the Week honor as well and marks the fifth time a Taylor player has claimed the honor this spring.
With the victory in the Crossroads League Championship the Trojans earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship scheduled for May 24-27 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
