Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season
TOCCOA, Ga. – The Taylor men's golf team opened its spring season on Monday and Tuesday at the Currahee Club Invite. The Trojans struggled throughout the 72 holes of competition, finishing in eighth place at the nine-team event.
TU blitzed through its fall season, winning all five of its tournaments with a scoring average of 295.7 to vault into the NAIA Top-25 but failed to find that rhythm throughout the first outing of the spring.
The Trojans shot rounds of 312, 319 and 317 for a 316.0 average and placed just one finisher inside the top-20 of the 48-member field.
Tanner Conklin led the way for Taylor in 18th with rounds of 78, 77 and 74 for a three-round total of 229.
Porter Dick and Will Schuitema finished 10 strokes back of Conklin in a tie for 32nd. Dick highlighted his tourney with a 79 in the final round, with Schuitema firing a 75 in the opening round.
No. 25 Taylor will return to action on March 16 and 17 at the Lindsey Wilson Spring Invitational in Columbia, Kentucky.
