Trojans Stay Perfect with Fourth Fall Title
ADA, Mich. – The Taylor men's golf team continued its unblemished fall season, winning the Egypt Valley Championship for the program's fourth team title in four outings this fall. Kyle Kasitz and Aaron Fulda tied for first place, marking the third time in those four fall tournaments that a Trojan had led the individual leaderboard.
TU led comfortably throughout the 54-hole tournament, pacing the eight-team field at the Egypt Valley Country Club with successive rounds of 292, 300 and 300. The Trojans finished the two-day event with a score of 892, ending 40 shots in front of a tie for second place in the standings between the Taylor 'B' lineup and the Spring Arbor 'A' lineup.
Kasitz and Fulda tied with SAU's Zachary Koch atop the leaderboard at plus-nine for the tournament with a final score of 225. Koch eventually topped Kasitz and Fulda for medalist honors by winning a two-hole playoff.
Kasitz fired scores of 76, 73, 76 to finish in the three-way tie for first, while Fulda closed with back-to-back rounds of 74 after opening with a 77.
Porter Dick, Davis Formsma, Will Schuitema and Tanner Conklin followed in fourth through seventh in the standings, with Ben Oakley ending in ninth to give Taylor seven of the top nine finishers.
Schuitema, Dick and Conklin posted the best single rounds of the event for Taylor, with Schuitema shooting a 68 on Monday, Dick posting a 69 on Tuesday and Conklin carding a score of 71 in Monday's second round.
Taylor (30-0) will close out its fall schedule on October 20 and 21 at the Whistling Straits Classic in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
