Trojans Roll to Pilot Invitational Title
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Taylor men's golf team notched its fifth win of the season on Saturday as the 19th-ranked Trojans pulled away for a 13-shot victory at the Pilot Invitational.
All five Trojans finished inside the top 12 on the individual leaderboard with Javan Johnson, Noah Ross, and Adam Kasitz all earning spots on the all-tournament team.
Johnson led the way, tying for medalist honors with rounds of 74-73 on the 7,063-yard, par-72 layout of Blackthorn Golf Club. Ross and Kasitz each finished with two-round totals of 150. The duo was tied for the lead after Friday's opening round with 72's and each fired 78 in the final round to finish tied for third.
Junior Erik Fahlen added an eighth-place finish with rounds of 78-74 while junior Drew Pickering tallied rounds of 78-76 to finish T-12.
The Trojans jumped to a 7-shot lead after the opening round with a team score of 296. Taylor increased the margin on Saturday as TU carded a team score of 301 amid cold, windy conditions to finish 13 shots clear of runner-up Roosevelt.
Taylor will wrap up the regular season on Monday when the Trojans travel to Purdue for the Ackerman-Allen Shootout. Action begins at 9:00 am with live scoring available on golfstat.com.
