Trojans Race at Manchester's Spartan Classic
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – In its final tune-up prior to next week's Crossroads League Championships the Taylor women's track and field team took second place at Manchester's Spartan Classic on Saturday.
Trojans posted victories in six events on Saturday to rack up 129 points in the team standings.
Freshman Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh claimed the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.57 and long jump. The Trojans also got solid sprint performances from freshman Miriam Wood and senior Kaitlin DeHaan in the 400-meter dash. Wood posted a time of 59.53 to take second while DeHaan crossed the finish line at 1:00.24 to take third.
Freshman Mae Elizabeth Gimre led a trio of Trojans who finished in the top seven of the 1500-meter run. Gimre collected a victory with a time of 4:53.56 while fellow freshman Amanda Dibley finished fourth at 5:06.85. Senior Alyssa Hatteberg added a seventh place finish with a time of 5:13.60.
Taylor took the top three spots in the high jump with freshman Julianne Exner posting a jump of 1.50 meters to take the top spot. Sophomore Tori Gaesser and freshman Katrina Headlee were tied for second at 1.45 meters.
Wood and Exner finished first and second, respectively, in the triple jump. Wood posted a winning mark of 10.06 meters while Exner was second at 9.53 meters.
Senior Haley White, the reigning Crossroads League Field Athlete of the Week, continued her dominant season in the javelin with another victory. White hit a mark of 38.40 meters to take the top spot.
The meet marked the final tune-up for the Trojans before the Crossroads League Championships scheduled for April 28-29 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
