Trojans Wrap Up Regular Season at Findlay
FINDLAY, Ohio – The Taylor women's track and field team wrapped up its regular season on Friday as the Trojans competed at the University of Findlay.
The 13th-ranked Trojans continued to show improvement as TU athletes collected three victories and set multiple personal bests.
Alex Berends led an impressive performance for TU's distance unit in the 3,000-meters as the junior collected a victory with an NAIA A standard time of 10:20.41 to pace seven Trojans who finished in the top 12 of the event. Freshman Olivia Schroder added a second place finish with a new personal best time of 10:50.91 while Amanda Dibley, Maddie Weeden, Ariel Wentworth, and Megan Harrison all clocked personal best times as well.
Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh continued her stellar junior campaign on Friday, posting a victory in the long jump with an NAIA A standard mark of 5.75 meters while also adding a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with an NAIA A standard mark of 9.01.
The Trojans dominated the mile run with freshman Sarah Harden leading the charge with a winning time of 5:13.22 followed by Mae Elizabeth Gimre in second place at 5:15.79 and sophomore Taylor Bluemel in fourth at 5:20.11.
Junior Anna Souzis paced a quartet of Trojans in the 800-meters with a third place finish and a time of 2:24.37. Fellow junior Rachel Blagg was close behind, finishing fourth at 2:24.66 while Anna Craig claimed seventh place and Erinne Lubienski clocked a ninth place finish.
Other impressive performances for TU included freshman Lily Walter who took sixth place in the 400-meters with a time of 1:03.30 and freshman Andrea Kempf in the 600-meters with a second-place time of 1:50.69. Additionally, Miriam Wood registered a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.58.
The Trojans will now begin preparations for the NAIA Indoor National Championships slated for March 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
