Women's Track Claims Nine Scholar-Athlete Honors

KANSAS CITY – The Taylor University women's track and field program earned nine Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors recently, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
In order to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution.
Alex Berends, Rachel Blagg, Amanda Dibley, Michelle Franch, Mae Elizabeth Gimre, Brianna Jordahl, Jenny Keith, Lauren Melchers and Anna Souzis were among the 427 women's track and field student-athletes from around the nation to be named as 2018 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and were nine of the 50 student-athletes from the Crossroads League to be recognized.
The Trojans excelled in the classroom, as well as on the track this season, winning the Crossroads League Indoor and Outdoor Championships, while finishing 20th at the NAIA Indoor National Championships and 21st at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
