TU Women Finish Third in Crossroads League Championships

UPLAND, Ind. – On the second day of Crossroads League competition, the Taylor women's track and field program battled for the championship before ending in third place overall.
TU tallied 114 points over the two-day event, finishing just six points behind Bethel in first with 120 points and one point behind Marian in second with 115.
Taylor picked up two wins and two All-Crossroads League awards on Saturday, while posting a total of nine top-five performances.
The women's 4x800-meter relay squad clinched first place with an exhilarating finish. The team of Abbey Brennan, Giovanna Domene, Brooke Studnicki and Corinne O'Leary won by 0.10 and earned all-league honors. TU's 4x8 posted a time of 9:28.86, a season-best and the top-time in the NAIA.
Livy Schroder won the 5,000-meters and earned all-league honors. Schroder set a lifetime-best time of 17:39.30. Mollie Gamble recorded a top-five finish for TU, crossing in fourth place with a season-best time of 19:09.15.
In the long jump, Patience Sakeuh placed fourth with a leap of 5.24-meters. Brooke Russell set a new personal-best with a mark of 5.06-meters and Hannah Caruana clinched eighth place logging 4.93-meters.
The distance medley relay squad tallied an additional two points for Taylor. Ahna VanderWall, Emily Johnson, Olivia Jeanette and Katelynn Hanback clocked a time of 13:01.83 with their seventh-place finish.
Kenley Blake and Eden Siples placed fourth and fifth in the high jump, collecting nine more points for Taylor. Blake cleared 1.55-meters and Siples set a collegiate-best mark of 1.50-meters.
Brooke Russell, Kenley Blake and Hannah Caruana had a successful day in the triple jump. Russell finished fourth with a new best jump of 10.78-meters. Blake grabbed fifth place with a leap of 10.55-meters and Caruana claimed seventh with a mark of 10.00-meters. The triple-jump crew tallied 11 points for the Trojans.
Three Trojans competed in the weight throw, Stephanie Wadsworth placed 17th with a toss of 11.03-meters, Emily Clementz finished 18th with a mark of 11.00-meters and Hallie Brenner claimed 20th with a throw of 10.28-meters.
Wadsworth also competed in the shot put, claiming 11th place with a throw of 10.32-meters. Adelyn Schoenbeck and Chrissy Hickman finished 21st and 22nd, both logging marks of 8.11-meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team closed out the track events with a fifth-place finish. The squad of Eden Siples, Olivia Jeanette, Emily Johnson and Giovanna Domene logged a time of 4:11.23.
The Trojans will now turn their focus to the NAIA Indoor National Championships on March 3-6 in Yankton, South Dakota.
