Women's Track Collects USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Taylor University women's track and field program was recently honored with academic awards from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The 2021 squad was named a USTFCCCA Scholar-Team, while eight student-athletes picked up All-Academic awards for their work in the classroom and on the track.
TU was one of 61 women's programs from the NAIA to receive the award, after posting a collective grade-point average of 3.00 or better. Taylor finished the 2020-2021 year with a team mark of 3.65 for the sixth-best tally in the NAIA.
In addition to claiming Scholar-Team status, eight Trojans received individual attention as USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes for posting cumulative GPA's of 3.25 and above with at least two full semesters completed, while also turning in an A or B standard result in a championship event during the 2021 indoor or outdoor track and field campaign.
Abbey Brennan, Giovanna Domene, Mollie Gamble, Sarah Harden, Corinne O'Leary, Livy Schroder, Brooke Studnicki and Ahna VanderWall were each named USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes for their work in the classroom and on the track.
The TU men's program was also recognized as a Scholar-Team and had 10 student-athletes named as USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes.
During the 2021 indoor season, the Taylor women's track and field program earned a top-10 rating in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll, set three new program records, finished third at the Crossroads League Championships, sent seven individuals to NAIA Nationals, finished 14th at NAIA Nationals, had six NAIA All-Americans and claimed the NAIA National Title in the 4x800-meter relay.
The Trojans' 2021 outdoor campaign was also impressive. The TU women earned a top-10 rating in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll, set two new program records, finished third at the Crossroads League Championships, sent 11 individuals to NAIA Nationals, finished 21st at NAIA Nationals and had eight NAIA All-Americans.
