Siefert Sets Program Record in the Triple Jump and Hits NAIA Standard in Career Day
JOLIET, Ill. – Kiana Siefert set the program record in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet 8.25 inches before setting a career-best in the long jump, with a leap of 19 feet 4.25 inches to hit the NAIA A Standard.
Siefert saved her best leaps of the season for this meet and was rewarded by hitting the NAIA A Standard to qualify for NAIA National Championships in two weeks' time in the long jump. The junior had another career leap in the triple jump at 37 feet 8.75 inches to set the program record, which has stood for almost forty years.
The two-sport athlete also ran in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third after qualifying for the finals with a time of 14.22. Siefert was joined by Claire Bailey, who just missed the finals with a time of 15.25. Bailey also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and finished second with a time of 1:03.51 as she prepares for the NAIA National Championships in the event.
Nicole Domene was the final Trojan to take the track on Saturday and ran a season-best time of 25.33 in the 200-meters. Domene then ran another sub-minute time in the 400-meters at 59.35.
Taylor will send a handful of athletes to the NAIA National Championships beginning Wednesday, May 21, at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Indiana.
