AVON, Ohio. – Coming off an impressive performance at the Pilot Invitational, Taylor sophomore and former Eastbrook standout Noah Ross earned his first weekly honor, being named the Crossroads League Men's Golfer-of-the-Week.
The sophomore carded a two-round total of 142 for his first collegiate victory over the weekend, leading RV Taylor to a 30-shot team triumph and its fourth team title of the season.
Ross tallied an even-par 72 to lead the Trojans on day one of the Invitational, offsetting three early bogeys with a trio of birdies on the par-4 ninth, par-3 16th, and par-5 18th holes.
The Upland, Indiana native was even better on day two. After finishing the first day of competition in third place, and after a bogey on the par-4 fifth hole, Ross responded with a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole and an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole to move into the lead.
Ross battled with round one leader Nicolas Paviet of Roosevelt University over the course of the back nine before regaining the lead for good on the 15th hole.
The sophomore's stout weekend of golf helped the Trojans post their lowest score of the season – a 2-under par 286 to finish with a two-round total of 582 (+6). Additionally, Ross joins teammates Javan Johnson and Adam Kasitz as individual winners for the Trojans this season.
Ross' first Crossroads League Men's Golfer-of-the-Week honor gives Taylor its 24th weekly award this year.
The Taylor men's golf team will look to continue its winning ways today in the Sagamore Invitational in Carmel.
