Trojans Finish Second at Sagamore
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The Taylor men's golf team claimed a runner-up finish in the Sagamore Invitational on Monday.
Taylor tallied team scores of 308-308 to finish the event at 618. The Trojans finished second in the field behind Marian as the Knights tallied scores of 302-301 to best Taylor by 13 shots.
Drew Pickering led the way for TU as the sophomore carded back-to-back rounds of 75 to earn a third-place finish.
Fellow sophomores Erik Fahlen and Noah Ross finished tied for seventh place with a total of 155. Ross opened with a 75 and added an 80 in the afternoon while Fahlen signed for a 78 in the morning and 77 in the afternoon round.
Javan Johnson also managed a top-10 finsih at 156 with rounds of 80 and 76. Freshman Adam Kasitz finished tied for 20th at 161 with rounds of 81 and 80. Junior Jason Iler competed as an individual and finished tied for 41st at 170 (87-83).
The Trojans finished ahead of Crossroads League foes Saint Francis (638), Spring Arbor (642), Mount Vernon Nazarene (643), and Grace (659).
Taylor returns to action next Monday as TU hosts the one-day, 36-hole Ackerman-Allen Shootout at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course at Purdue University.
