AVON, Ohio. – In what has been a phenomenal season, Javan Johnson added another accolade to an already impressive list of accomplishments, collecting his first Crossroads League Men's Golfer-of-the-Week honor on Monday.
The Franklin, Indiana native recorded another top-five finish last week at the Ackerman-Allen Classic in West Lafayette, placing second with a two-round total of 143 to finish one-under par. Johnson tallied a 3-under par 69 during the first round of the event before carding a 2-over par 74 in more adverse conditions in the second round.
The redshirt sophomore now has seven top-5 finishes for RV Taylor this season, including a pair of individual championships at the Battle at the Henge back in October and the Garn Championship in late March.
Johnson's first Crossroads League Men's Golfer-of-the-Week honor gives Taylor its 26th weekly award this year.
The Taylor men's golf team will look to win its fifth straight Crossroads League title at the Orchard Ridge County Club in Fort Wayne. The Trojans will play 36 holes today before returning to the course tomorrow for the final round.
