Trojans Compete at Marian Invitational
INDIANAPOLIS – The Taylor women's track and field team continued its outdoor season this weekend at the Marian Invitational.
Haley White notched the lone victory for the Trojans as the senior recorded a throw of 38.28 meters to win the javelin.
The Trojans also got a quartet of personal best performances in the 5,000-meter run led by freshman Michelle Franch who clocked a time of 18:24.35 to finish seventh. Senior Taryn Seeland added a tenth place finish with a time of 18:31.82 followed by Hannah Schroder in 13th (18:37.21), and Andrea Foster in 14th (18:41.64).
Freshman Mae Elizabeth Gimre added a sixth place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:03.21. The Trojans also took three of the top six spots in the 800-meter run led by freshman Rachel Blagg who finished third at 2:21.46 followed by Jane Hawks in fifth at 2:24.46 and Anna Souzis in sixth at 2:25.03.
Katie DeHaan and Miriam Wood finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the 400-meter run with times of 1:00.35 and 1:00.63.
Wood and fellow freshman Julianne Exner performed well in the triple jump, with Wood finishing third with a mark of 10.70 meters and Exner finishing fifth at 10.59 meters.
Next up for the Trojans will be TU's home event, the George Glass Invitational at George Glass Track and Field on Saturday, April 9th.
