TU Women Finish Fourth in Crossroads League Championships

UPLAND, Ind. – After a competitive second day of competition, the Taylor women's track and field squad finished as the fourth-place team at the 2022 Crossroads League Indoor Championships. The Trojans tallied a total of 103 points between the two days and ended behind Marian (215), Grace (116) and Bethel (112).
Abbey Brennan put together a spectacular mile as she raced to a new TU school record. The senior cranked out an impressive time of 4:59.12 and is the first Trojan to run a sub-5:00 mile. Brennan claimed the first-place victory and earned all-league honors.
Brooke Studnicki collected her third win of the weekend as she crossed the line ahead of the crowed in the 800-meter run. Posting a time of 2:17.49, Studnicki improved her season-PR and earned the NAIA A-standard.
In the 60-meter hurdle finals, Audrey Altum broke the 9.00-barrier and recorded a career-best time of 8.98. Altum garnered All-Crossroads League honors with her second-place finish.
Giovanna Domene added another top-three finish for the Purple and Gold. Domene raced the 1,000-meters and ended in third place overall with a time of 3:01.95.
Two freshmen distance runners put together an exciting 3,000-meter race. Elayna Kitt and Lynae Ackley claimed fourth and fifth place while racing to the NAIA B-standard. Kitt clocked a time of 10:30.85 and Ackley ended steps behind in 10:33.32.
The Trojan triple jumpers added seven more points to TU's team score. Brooke Russell placed fourth overall as she recorded a jump of 10.42-meters. Kenley Blake leaped 9.98-meters and grabbed seventh place.
Eden Siples scored in two sprinting events. Siples cruised to a fifth-place finish in the 400-meters and a sixth-place finish in the 200-meters. Siples clocked a season-best time of 1:00.78 in the 400, while racing to a time of 26.58 in the 200.
To wrap up the meet, TU's 4x400-meter relay team collected the final all-league award of the day. The group of Mikayla Ellis, Olivia Jeanette, Emily Johnson and Eden Siples finished in third place with a time of 4:04.32.
The Taylor women will now turn their attention to the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Brookings, South Dakota on March 3-5.
