Halterman Sets CL Championships Record in 10,000-meters on Day One

MARION, Ind. – Taylor began competition at the Crossroads League Championships on Thursday and sits in third after picking up 31.50 points on day one.
Jaynie Halterman was the champion in the 10,000-meters on Thursday, with the sensational sophomore clocking a time of 34:54.69, which hits the NAIA A Standard, giving Halterman a chance to defend her title at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The incredible time set the record for the Crossroads League Championships by over 30 seconds.
Kiana Siefert competed in the heptathlon and currently sits first after the first four events including victories in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meters. The senior's busy day culminated in the long jump, where she finished second with a leap of 19 feet, her best of the season, which also hit the NAIA B Standard.
The 4x800-meter relay team improved its season-best time by over ten seconds, securing a second-place finish. Addie Draper, Noel Bass, Emersyn Funk and Malarie Pinwar teamed up to post a blistering time of 9:13.58, which hit the NAIA A Standard, sending Taylor to NAIA Nationals in the event once again.
Emerson Meredith and Elliana Transparenti picked up points for TU in the pole vault, with Transpareni's height of 10 feet 9.25 inches is a new career best. More points in the field were accumulated for TU in the high jump, where Meg Stevens cleared a height of 4 feet 10.75 inches.
D'Arjha Davis qualified for the finals in both the 100 and 200-meters, while Siefert, Brooklyn Bixler and Claire Bailey all qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Crossroads League Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana continue Friday, May 1st, with the heptathlon beginning the day at 9:10 am.
