SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 10 Taylor men's lacrosse team could not get on track at RV SCAD-Savannah on Wednesday, falling to the host Bees by a 12-7 margin.
TU was out-shot by a 30-10 gap in the opening half and faced a 7-2 deficit at the break, with Will Saxby providing the only two scores for the Purple and Gray.
After the SCAD-Savannah (1-0) lead grew to 8-2 early in the third, Taylor mounted its only rally of the day with three-straight goals to draw within striking distance at 8-5.
The hosts responded with a three-goal spurt of their own to open the fourth and never looked back in the 12-7 win.
Taylor had just 26 shots in the game, compared to 62 from the Bees. TU also turned the ball over 30 times in the contest.
Saxby led the Trojans with three goals, while Grant Elzinga and Lucas Pacer teamed to anchor the defense once again with 10 ground balls and Xander Batemen and Pacer each had two caused turnovers.
No. 10 Taylor (1-1) will round out its season-opening three-game stretch in Georgia with a neutral field clash against Point (0-0) at SCAD-Savannah on Saturday, January 31 at 3:00 pm.
