Trojans Earn Second Win Following Dominant Display
UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor University women's tennis team rolled past Manchester University in a 7-0 sweep Tuesday at the Taylor Tennis Complex.
TU (2-1) earned its second fall victory and remained unbeaten in home dual matchups. The Trojans opened the afternoon Tuesday with clinching the doubles point and then the Purple & Gray breezed through the singles action.
The Trojans only dropped one game in doubles play, with Maddy Fuqua and Sarah Scott posting a 6-1victory at the No. 1 doubles match against MU's Grace Keener and Carmen Ramirez. At No. 2 doubles, Jillian Darby and Anna Stone registered a 6-0 sweep.
In singles play, Ellie Schaufelberger and Evy Danemayer each recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Darby and Scott both secured 6-1, 6-0 results at the top two singles matches, while Fuqua captured the No. 3 singles contest with a 6-1, 6-1 decision.
The Trojans return to the friendly confines of the Taylor Tennis Complex Friday at 6 p.m. against IU Kokomo, before hitting the road for a dual match against Saint Francis Saturday.
